Description:

The Republic of San Magnolia maintains that their ongoing conflict with the Giadian Empire has resulted in no casualties, but this assertion is a fiction. The Alba, a fair-haired people from the Republic's 85 regions, are protected by fortified walls while all others who differ in appearance are consigned to a hidden enclave known as the 86th sector. The 86ers are conscripted into military service as the Eighty-Six, and made to combat the Empire's autonomous Legion under the guidance of Republican "Handlers." Vladilena Milizé takes over as the new Handler for the Spearhead squadron, ostracized from her comrades for her solidarity with the Eighty-Six. She vigorously opposes their inhumane treatment. Shinei Nouzen commands the Spearhead squadron, having watched as all his previous companions perished, bearing the memories and aspirations of those who died. As the lives of these two youths occupy different worlds, will their partnership kindle the promise of liberation or will it succumb to the ravages of despondency?
