In 1994, Angelique originated as a dating sim game geared towards girls on the Super Famicom console. The game revolved around Angelique Limoges, a regular student who was summoned to the Sanctuary of the Queen of the Cosmos to participate in a competition to determine the next queen. Angelique's opponent, Rosalia de Cartagena, was her polar opposite in terms of elegance and preparation, having honed her skills from infancy for the Queen Examination. What exactly was this examination all about? The young maidens needed to utilize the powers, Sacrea, of the nine guardians of the queen to cultivate a barren continent. The one who developed the largest population on the center island connecting the two continents would be crowned the next queen. However, with the added presence of the nine dashing guardians, it became challenging to choose between power and love... Comprising of four OVAs, each with numerous chapters, Angelique is a unique experience to behold.
