Description:
The young acolyte is instructed by the head monk to protect a beautiful cherry tree in the monastery garden during his absence. However, the elder monk underestimates the acolyte's love for sake. Coincidentally, a samurai warrior and his servant choose the same garden and the blossoming tree as the ideal spot for a picnic feast. Despite the acolyte's initial refusal to allow them entry, the scent of the sake challenges his determination. This puppet film, created by director Kawamoto in 1968, is a moral lesson about a disciple who was rightfully punished for a lapse in judgement.
