With the advancement of technology, as computers begin to resemble humans, will love remain unchanged? Meet Hideki Motosuwa - a hardworking, impoverished youth striving to gain admission into college. While walking home one day, he stumbles upon an abandoned Persocom - a personal computer that closely resembles a human being. Upon activating it, he discovers that it's faulty, only able to utter the word "Chii" - which he adopts as its name. Unlike most Persocoms, Chii cannot receive information downloads, so Hideki decides to teach her about the world through traditional means while balancing his college entrance exam studies. Joined by his friends, Hideki delves into the mystery surrounding Chii, speculated to be a "Chobit" - a legendary Persocom unit programmed with human emotions, thoughts, and the capability to fall in love with its owner. Yet, can a romantic relationship transpire between a Persocom and a human?
