In the late 21st century, Earth struggled with the challenge of increasing population and dwindling resources. To overcome this dilemma, humans looked to the Moon as a solution. The Moon's valuable minerals boosted prosperity on Earth, but for those who left their home planet to establish a new life on the Moon, the accomplishment came at a painful cost. What was once an incredible aspiration for humankind has turned into a terrible reality for those forced to live through it. Unbeknownst to him, Shun Nonomura will soon stumble upon a weapon that could overthrow the oppressive Monopolice and liberate the lunar colonists. The burgeoning resistance movement quickly welcomes both the inventor and his discovery, rallying around the enigmatic extraterrestrial monument, known as Dallos. Made in 1983 by Studio Pierrot, Dallos was the world's initial OVA series. It also marked Mamoru Oshii's directorial debut, who later directed esteemed films including Angel's Egg, the first two Urusei Yatsura movies, and Ghost in the Shell.
