In Japan, just like in any other society, children are brought up hearing stories from their parents and grandparents, such as the peach-born boy, the bamboo-discovered moon princess, and the aged man who can bring a dead cherry tree back to life. These succinct tales impart both positive and negative aspects of life, and have communicated ethical principles from one generation to another for a long time. Consisting of three independent stories, spanning approximately thirty minutes each, Folktales from Japan showcases heartwarming accounts originating from Tohoku - both popular and lesser-known. With the 2011 earthquake adversely affecting this region, may this production offer solace and encouragement to those affected by the disaster.
