Far into the future, humanity resides beneath the earth's surface in vast caverns, completely unaware of the existence of a world above with an endless sky and twinkling stars. Amidst the modest community of Jiha, Simon, a meek laborer, discovers a peculiar glowing item while excavating. Kamina, a fervent young man with a striking pair of sunglasses and contagious enthusiasm, befriends Simon and establishes a tight-knit crew of brothers, the Gurren Brigade. They aim to flee the confines of the village and penetrate the cave ceiling, a feat most consider impossible. The village chief adamantly refuses to entertain such lofty notions and admonishes the Brigade for their audacity. But, when catastrophe strikes from above, jeopardizing the entire community, Simon, Kamina, Yoko, a sharpshooter, and their compact yet resolute robot, Lagann, must take it upon themselves to save the day. Their newfound partnership embarks on a journey to the world above, only to encounter a severe battlefield, and soon must fight back against the ferocious Beastmen to tip the scales in favor of humanity!
