As a high school student of just 14 years, Naru Sekiya feels inadequate compared to the beloved fairy tale princesses she looks up to and the ideal girls among her peers. Meanwhile, her childhood friends Yaya Sasame rocks out with her school band, and Tami Nishimikado serves on the student council. Naru yearns for the confidence to progress, wishing for a magical key to unlock her timid heart since the start of high school. One night, Naru stumbles upon what she believes to be a charming fairy atop a torii gate, who invites her to dance. The next day, the "fairy" is unmasked as a transfer student from the United States. Hana N. Fountainstand seeks out Naru and persuades her to create a club for yosakoi, a traditional Japanese dance that Hana's adored since childhood. Initially frightened by Hana's zeal and the prospect of performing in public, Naru gradually falls in love with yosakoi and assists her new friend in achieving her dreams, all while navigating an unpredictable path as a young maiden.
