In 2015, the Angels - massive extraterrestrial war machines with extraordinary power - appeared in Tokyo for the second time, threatening the survival of humanity. The only hope rested in NERV, a specialized United Nations agency, and their humanoid combat machines called Evangelions. Despite being able to withstand the Angels' attacks, there was a shortage of capable pilots, with only a select few born nine months after the Angels' initial arrival able to operate the machines. Shinji Ikari was among these few pilots, with his father heading the NERV team responsible for creating and maintaining the Evangelions. As Shinji navigated through intense battles and perplexing circumstances, he had to find the courage and strength within himself to survive and fight, or face losing everything. Subsequent releases featured revised versions of Episodes 21-24, known as the "Director's Cut," incorporating additional footage from the theatrical summary "Death" and edited visuals.
