Throughout the ages, the land of Remnant has been plagued by the constant threat of the Grimm; terrifying creatures with a single-minded focus on the destruction of humanity and the half-human Faunus. In response, the four kingdoms of the world established academies to train young people as huntsmen, soldiers tasked with eradicating the Grimm menace. In Vale, the spirited Ruby Rose dreams of attending the prestigious Beacon Academy, but her young age prevents her enrollment, leaving her to watch her older sister, Yang Xiao Long, depart for the academy alone. However, Ruby's life takes a turn when she demonstrates her exceptional abilities while fighting off a group of robbers, and word of her skills reaches Professor Ozpin, the head of Beacon. Ruby is thrilled to receive an invitation to attend the academy alongside her sister, and in the far-off kingdom of Atlas, wealthy heiress Weiss Schnee defies her father's wishes and journeys to Beacon, bubbling with excitement. Meanwhile, solitary rogue Blake Belladonna abandons her vigilante group in search of a brighter future at the academy. When the four girls eventually cross paths, their initial meeting is anything but amicable as their differences in personality and beliefs often clash. However, when they begin to collaborate as Team RWBY, their remarkable skills and mutual determination create ripples at Beacon that have never been seen before.
