Description:

Shamans possess an exceptional capacity to communicate with spirits, gods, and ghosts not visible to the ordinary individuals. Every five hundred years, the prestigious Shaman Fight tournament takes place, where shamans worldwide compete against each other to become the crowned Shaman King, granting them the power to control the world as they wish by invoking the Great Spirit. One evening, Manta Oyamada, a regular middle school student, rushes to class and decides to take a shortcut through the local cemetery. As he passes by, a boy sitting on a gravestone invites him to stargaze with "them." Manta realizes that "them" refers to the boy and his ghost friends, leaving him in terror. The boy introduces himself as You Asakura, a Shaman-in-training, and, with the help of his spirit friend Amidamaru, rescues Manta from a group of thugs. You appreciates Manta's ability to see spirits, so they team up to attain You's goal of becoming the next Shaman King.
