Description:
After a devastating bombardment by the Gamilas Empire in 2199, Earth is a mere shell of its former self. Its inhabitants are now forced to live underground to avoid the irradiated surface. However, their time is running out as the deadly radiation is inching closer to their stronghold, threatening complete and utter extermination. Despite futile attempts to escape or retaliate, the alien empire instantly annihilates any action taken—until a beacon of hope emerges from a neighboring galaxy. An emergency transmission from the planet Iscandar offers a chance to save Earth. In secret, the Self Defense Force constructs a faster-than-light engine for a journey to Iscandar. With new weapons and a courageous crew of navy men, the battleship Yamato, once from World War II, is now Space Battleship Yamato. It sets out on a dangerous expedition through the stars to save not only their world but the entire human race.
