First Act of The Prince of Naniwa (Naniwa no Ouji-sama: Zenpen) follows the Seishun Academy Boys' Tennis Team as they accept an invitation from Shitenhouji Middle School in Osaka for practice matches. While the two teams initially plan to play tennis, they end up goofing off and are subsequently interrupted by the Higa Middle School's tennis team, who are stranded in Osaka without their coach. Upon questioning, Seishun's captain, Kunimitsu Tezuka, alludes to an underlying motive for the meeting of the two schools. In Turbulence: The Young Atobe (Fuun Shounen Atobe), Keigo Atobe, the freshman class representative at Hyoutei Academy, declares himself the "King" of the school on his first day and donates his family's wealth to fund new facilities. He aims to become captain of the school's tennis club by defeating its regulars and overthrowing its current hierarchy. However, he faces opposition from Ryou Shishido and Gakuto Mukahi, who refuse to accept him as their new leader due to his arrogant personality. Despite initial clashes, they soon realize that Atobe has the skills to back up his talk. Second Act of The Prince of Naniwa (Naniwa no Ouji-sama: Kouhen) sees Tezuka appointing second years Kaoru Kaidou and Takeshi Momoshiro to create a lineup for the Shitenhouji practice matches. However, they struggle to select capable club members and begin to lash out at their teammates. After being advised to calm down, they start questioning the reason behind Tezuka's decision to give them such a major responsibility. The Trials of Rikkai: A Rebel Who Challenges an Emperor (Rikkai Retsuden: Ouja ni Idomu Hangyakuji) follows Akaya Kirihara, a first-year student at Rikkai University-Affiliated Middle School, as he announces that he will join the tennis team that won last year's national tournament and become Japan's top tennis player. After defeating the team's third years single-handedly, he mistakenly believes that the group is weaker than expected. He soon discovers that Rikkai's victory was due to the "Big Three" and finds himself losing without their exertion. Determined to challenge them again, he embarks on intensive training.
