On a fall evening behind the Shimogamo Shrine, a peculiar ramen stand attracts a third-year college student. There, he encounters a being who introduces himself as the god of matrimony, sporting an eggplant-shaped head. The meeting prompts a realization of the student's past two years spent with his only friend Ozu, attempting to break up couples on campus. Ozu, a ghastly figure, seems determined to make the student's life miserable. Determined to make the most of his remaining college days, the student tries to express his feelings for the reserved yet kind Akashi. However, he fails, leading to regret about not living his college life differently. As soon as the thought crosses his mind, he's sent through time and space, back to the beginning of college, a chance to make amends. The surreal, artistic, and mind-bending Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei follows a young man's journey to develop friendships, find love, and experience the vibrant campus life he had always envisioned.
