Description:
Upon entering high school, Ayumu Tanaka, a former middle school kendo champion, opts to join the Shogi Club instead of the expected Kendo Club. His reasoning behind this decision is his love at first sight for Urushi Yaotome, the president and sole member of the Shogi Club. Ayumu is determined to do whatever it takes to get closer to her, but he holds off on confessing his feelings until he can defeat her in a fair and square game of shogi. However, this proves to be a difficult task for Ayumu, as Urushi is far more skilled and can predict his every move. Despite this, Ayumu constantly compliments her beauty, talent, and smile, which often causes Urushi to blush. As they continue to play together and Ayumu learns more about shogi, he gradually works up the courage to confess his love to Urushi, even if it means doing so one pawn at a time.
