Description:

Often focusing on those who are weak and easily preyed upon, bullies frequently target individuals like Yuugi Mutou. His friend from childhood, Anzu Mazaki, is a constant source of support, but he knows he can't always rely on her. Katsuya Jonouchi, who is usually accompanied by his quick-witted companion, Hiroto Honda, isn't necessarily a bad person, despite causing trouble for Yuugi. More than anything, Yuugi longs for a true friend who truly understands him and will always remain trustworthy. Yuugi values his Millennium Puzzle, an ancient artifact from Egypt that was brought into his grandfather's game shop. Believing that solving the puzzle will grant him his deepest desire, he completes it and unleashes the soul of the "King of Games," a new and different personality within him. Unlike Yuugi, this new personality, known as Yami Yuugi, is dark, complex, powerful, and dependable. Whenever someone wrongs him, Yami Yuugi takes over Yuugi's body and forces the perpetrator to participate in a "Shadow Game," with high stakes. Whoever loses will confront the darkness lurking within their own hearts.
