Description:
The thriving metropolis known as Academy City is teeming with students and is a hub of scientific advancement, boasting an exceptional program for developing espers. Mikoto Misaka, a middle-school darling known as "The Railgun," who happens to be the third-highest-ranked out of the formidable "Level 5" espers, has a unique ability to manipulate electricity. As strange happenings begin to take place within the confines of the city, Mikoto uncovers a disturbing link between each instance and the elusive "Level Upper," a device rumored to magnify an esper's level. When things take a turn for the worse, it becomes apparent that the Level Upper is not what it seems, and that Academy City may lack the idyllic façade it portrays.
