During his younger years, Moritaka Mashiro aspired to emulate his uncle and childhood idol, Tarou Kawaguchi - the adored creator of a renowned gag manga. However, a tragic incident caused Moritaka to abandon this dream and shift his focus to his studies in middle school, with hopes of becoming a salaryman. One life-changing day, Akito Takagi, a fellow classmate known for his writing skills and esteemed position as top student, stumbled upon Moritaka's meticulously drawn sketches in a notebook. Acknowledging his artistic talent and immense potential, Akito proposed a surprising collaboration to become manga artists together. After persistent persuasion, Moritaka agreed to unite with Akito, driven by the prospect of working with Miho Azuki - the girl he secretively admired - if their manga escalated to the point of being adapted into an anime.
