Description:
A young Haibane, with a halo and small gray wings, emerges from a cocoon in the village of Old Home with no recollection of her past. Her name, Rakka, stems from a dream she had while inside the cocoon of falling. Although she struggles to comprehend this new world, she adapts to life in this peculiar town. However, the Haibane are restricted by strict rules, such as not being allowed to venture outside the village or near its walls. Furthermore, the inexplicable disappearance of the Haibane on their "Day of Flight" causes confusion and concern among Rakka and her peers, as they are ignorant of their true nature. Haibane Renmei narrates not only Rakka's journey but also those around her as they attempt to overcome their former anguish and find redemption while living life with no recollection of the past.
