During the 20th century, a fierce war was waged between humans and monsters, resulting in the monsters gaining control and hiding away from public view, instilling fear in many. Bokka, a curious young boy, ponders the fate of the valiant Meros Warriors who bravely defended the world from demons. His encounter with Kurofune leads him to the discovery of the Meros' power and their use of I-bar machines in battle, revealing that only warriors can perceive the enigmatic Melody of Oblivion, a phantom girl who possesses the ability to save mankind. In a battle between Kurofune and a monster, Bokka is astonished to learn that he too can hear the melody. Through his travels, Bokka crosses paths with numerous monsters and allies, uncovering the true extent of his newfound abilities. He must persevere and combat evil forces to free the Boukyaku no Senritsu and restore the world's once-beautiful melody.
