Description:
As Earth's population grows at an alarming rate, humanity creates vast orbiting space colonies dubbed "Sides" to accommodate the swelling numbers. However, the privileged on Earth coerce most of the population to relocate to space, sparking an uprising. In Universal Century 0079, Side 3 declares its independence as the Principality of Zeon, plunging into war against the Earth Federation. Though Zeon possesses a fraction of the Federation's resources, they quickly gain the upper hand, employing colossal humanoid robots known as mobile suits in battle. Char Aznable, a cryptic figure referred to as the "Red Comet," emerges as one of Zeon's mobile suit aces. Upon discovering the Federation's development of their own prototype mobile suit, Gundam, in Side 7, Char's squadron mercilessly strikes. Amuro Ray, the creator's son, seizes the Gundam and repels the assault. Amuro must now confront Char directly, as he flees the colony aboard a Federation vessel.
