Description:
Following the loss of a beloved friend, Shinji Ikari is left emotionally incapacitated. His inability to operate the humanoid robot Evangelion Unit-01 leaves NERV, headed by his father Gendou Ikari, racing against the nefarious organization SEELE to ascertain which group will accomplish their ultimate goal first. SEELE seeks to establish a divine being by fusing their own souls into an Evangelion unit, while Gendou desires to unify all of humanity into a single primordial entity, thus enabling him to reunite with his deceased spouse, Yui. Invading NERV headquarters with potentially fatal consequences, SEELE dispatches their military troops to destroy NERV's scientists and security guards, necessitating Asuka Langley Souryuu to operate Evangelion Unit-02 in a last-ditch assault against SEELE's most formidable weaponry. Meanwhile, despite the world's destiny seemingly hinging on his actions, a despondent Shinji remains concealed deep within NERV's headquarters, while Captain Misato Katsuragi scours the deteriorating society to locate the teenage boy.
