If you're in dire need and look in the right place, you may come across a peculiar phone number scribbled in red. Dialing it leads to a young man identifying himself as the Yato God. Regarded as a minor deity and "Delivery God," Yato yearns to gather millions of worshippers, but with no shrines built in his honor, his aspirations remain far-fetched. To make ends meet, he takes on petty jobs for five yen apiece, until his weapon partner abandons him due to his incompetence. As his circumstances spiral downwards, Yato's fortune changes when middle school student Hiyori Iki rescues him from a car accident. She takes the hit instead and survives the ordeal, but her soul becomes untethered from her body in the aftermath. Hiyori implores Yato to restore her to normal, and he agrees to help her, though he requires a new partner to do so. With reluctance, Hiyori assists Yato in finding a new partner, and their teamwork begins to turn his fortunes around.
