From youth, Miu was captivated by the piano and began taking lessons. As the show commences, Miu is in middle school and is characterized as a reserved, timid girl with low self-esteem. Her acquaintances describe her as "sweet" and "soft-spoken." Miu has been attending piano lessons for quite some time, and though many remark that she has improved immensely, Miu believes that she is not talented in any way—specifically in regard to her piano abilities. Her instructor, Mr. Shirakawa, frequently becomes frustrated with her playing, noting that she relentlessly hits every exact note without fully immersing herself in the performance. In the meantime, Miu has reached the age where boys have piqued her interest and she has developed a crush on the attractive Kazuya Takahashi, despite his lack of recognition. Miu's story is one of self-discovery as she embarks on a quest to uncover the rhythm within her own heart and muster the bravery to express it.
