In the final years of the Bakumatsu era, there was a renowned assassin named Hitokiri Battousai. His merciless killings left him feared throughout the nation, but he disappeared at the height of the Japanese Revolution. Even today, ten years of peace later, the mere mention of his name brings back traumatic memories for war veterans. However, unbeknownst to them, Battousai has traded in his violent ways for a life of atonement. Now known as Kenshin Himura, a wandering swordsman who is both cheerful and determined, he has pledged to never take another life and devotes himself to protecting the weak. One day, Kenshin stumbles upon Kaoru Kamiya's kendo dojo, which is under threat by an imposter posing as Battousai. He helps her fend off the intruder and, as a gesture of gratitude, she invites him to stay at her dojo, causing him to halt his travels for the time being. Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan follows Kenshin's exploits as he aids those in need. However, with enemies from both his past and present resurfacing, can he uphold his new morals and principles?
