Description:
It was 1925, the fourteenth year of the Taisho era, and Japan was still unfamiliar with the game of baseball. Male teams were few in number. A baseball player's offhand remark about women's roles as housewives rather than students prompted 14-year-old Akiko to prove him wrong. She persuaded her friend Koume to join her in forming a baseball team. However, in a time when even running was considered unladylike, baseball was deemed only for boys. The girls encountered numerous obstacles, including finding enough members, gaining their parents' approval, and mastering the complexities of the sport. It proved to be more challenging than they anticipated.
