The Demon Lord Satan strikes fear into the hearts of mortals as he conquers the land of Ente Isla with his vast demon armies. However, his brutal quest to take over the continent is foiled by the hero Emilia, causing Satan to make a swift retreat through a dimensional portal that lands him and his loyal general Alsiel in modern-day Tokyo. With no magic and unable to return home, Satan assumes the guise of a human named Sadao Maou and begins working at MgRonald's, a local fast-food restaurant, to make ends meet.
