As Kazuma Hoshino begins his teenage years, he prepares to embark on a new phase of his life. Due to his younger brother Ayumu's poor health, their family has opted to relocate from the city to a rural area. They temporarily reside at the Yorozuyo Inn while waiting for their parents to finalize their relocation plans. However, their journey to the inn is far from smooth sailing. They board the wrong bus, end up in a desolate area, and Ayumu's hat is snatched by a wild monkey. Kazuma tries to retrieve it but loses himself in the woods. Eventually, he bumps into a vivacious girl named Ui, and in the process of trying to find his way back to the bus station, he accidentally kisses her. Her friend Ibuki is dissatisfied and kicks him out. Kazuma's misery persists as he encounters the inn's eccentric owner Senka, and to his dismay, two of his schoolmates are the girls from the woods whom he previously humiliated. Despite the challenges, Kazuma adjusts to his new school, navigates multiple romantic relationships, supports Ayumu's well-being, and adapts to his new landlady's quirks. However, he starts experiencing inexplicable feelings of nostalgia and reminiscence, unsure of their origin. What could these puzzling emotions signify?
