At the turn of 1999, humanity ventures beyond the solar system, only to cross paths with the planet Gishin and its Emperor Zule, determined to conquer the galaxy. Their efforts culminate in a showdown with Earth, marked for annihilation. To that end, they dispatch a baby, Mars, and a colossal robot, Gaia, powered by a new, formidable energy source capable of obliterating entire planets. Mars is meant to grow up, activate Gaia's bomb, and destroy Earth. But upon landing, he is adopted into a Japanese household and named Takeru, developing an affection for his new home, humanity. Seventeen years later, Takeru's love for Earth runs deep, and he defies Zule's orders to detonate the bomb within Gaia. However, Takeru's death would activate the bomb, obliterating Earth. With psychic powers under his belt, Takeru enlists in the Crasher Squad, Earth's elite defense force, to fight against Gishin's assault. Along with Takeru's friends, he must face his brother Maag, pitted against him by fate, in the war. Unbeknownst to Gishin, Takeru's father created five additional robots alongside Gaia, Uranus, Sphinx, Titan, Shin, and Ra, sent to shield Takeru. Whenever the planet is at risk, Takeru summons the five robots to merge with Gaia, forming the behemoth Godmars.
