Description:

Maquia was a member of a rare race called the Iorph, mythical beings who lived for centuries, distanced from humans' mundane worries. Despite being surrounded by her people, as an orphan from a young age, she felt a sense of isolation. Maquia yearned to explore the world beyond her surroundings, but her clan's leader had cautioned her against it, and so she refrained from venturing forth. However, fate intervened when the power-thirsty kingdom of Mezarte invaded her homeland. The Mezarte kingdom had already subdued the last remaining giant dragons, the Renato, and aimed to add the Iorph's immortality to their bloodline. Human and Renato forces perpetrated a ruthless attack on the Iorph territory, slaughtering many of its inhabitants. In the chaos that ensued, one of the berserk Renato abducted Maquia. The creature soon died, leaving Maquia alone in an unfamiliar forest. However, she heard an infant's cries in the distance and found the baby in a village that lay in ruins. Without hesitation, she adopted the child as her own and named him Ariel. Maquia had no experience raising a child who grew faster than she did, nor coping with the hardships of her solitary struggles. Still, she was determined to make it work and resolved to familiarize herself with the human world, no matter the cost.
