Description:

With a penchant for violence, Joe Yabuki turns to throwing punches to solve all his problems. Despite his lack of manners and discipline, Joe compensates with his self-taught fighting skills. While roaming the impoverished slums of Doya, Joe engages in a fight with the local gang. Albeit outmatched, he triumphs easily, piquing the interest of Danpei Tange, an ex-boxing trainer who has now succumbed to alcoholism. Recognizing Joe's potential, Danpei proposes to transform him into Japan's top boxer. At first, Joe scoffs at Danpei's drunken ramblings but eventually agrees, especially after the coach saves his life. Nonetheless, Joe's unruly nature proves a hindrance to his progress, and he is wont to revert to his old ways. To prevail in the challenging boxing world, Joe must learn to trust his mentor completely and master the rigorous techniques that Danpei teaches him. Yet, the path to becoming a seasoned fighter is laden with unyielding trials and uncertainties that will test his resilience and determination to the very limit.
