Description:
In the year 2016, Matoi Sumeragi is a second-year junior high student who works as a shrine maiden in the city of Kamaya at Tenman Shrine. Raised by her grandparents on her father's side after being separated from her mother as a young child, she recently moved in with her father Shingo, hoping for a tranquil and routine existence. Her best friend and fellow shrine maiden Yuma Kusanagi is in line to become the successor and is related to the Chief Priest. Yuma comes from a family that has a long history of performing exorcisms to ward off evil spirits. She invites Matoi to attend one of these exorcisms, 'Divine Possession.' One ordinary day, Matoi and Yuma are strolling to the shrine from school, and they see that the grounds are damaged, and Yuma's parents are both hurt. Matoi's father, who is a police detective, launches an investigation and catches hold of an apparently deranged man who was the only witness. As the man is struggling, Yuma initiates the Divine Possession ceremony. However, it isn't Yuma but Matoi who experiences something unusual. Matoi Sumeragi, who had merely desired a typical and peaceful life, is suddenly bestowed with immense powers when she becomes a god, which allows her to expel evil spirits. To regain her simple everyday pleasures, Matoi must perform exorcisms!
