While summering at his aunt's house, Shou, a young and delicate boy, stumbles upon an extraordinary discovery. Trailing the house's feline friend into the bushes, Shou catches a glimpse of a pint-sized girl, no larger than his finger! The girl introduces herself as Arrietty, a member of a unique group known as "Borrowers," who subsist on minuscule scraps of human belongings. Arrietty and her parents, Pod and Homily, reside in the house's basement, and Shou's elation at the prospect of such singular neighbors is palpable. Despite his enthusiasm, he remains unaware of the hardships they face daily. In addition to keeping their existence clandestine, the Borrowers undertake hazardous missions within human areas, from the house to the outdoors, in order to make ends meet. Arrietty, disregarding her parents' advice, befriends Shou, causing unforeseen events that could alter their lives beyond recognition. A magnificent spectacle for the eyes and a heartwarming tale about a bond between two distinct human groups, this wondrous story begins.
