Description:
During the 1950s in Japan, Tatsuo Kusakabe decides to move with his two daughters, Satsuki and Mei, to the countryside in order to be closer to their mother who is suffering from a long-term illness and is hospitalized. As the girls adapt to their new rural surroundings, Mei stumbles upon a small, bunny-like creature in the yard. Pursuing it into the forest leads her to discovering "Totoro" - a massive, mystical spirit of the forest whom she quickly befriends. As chance would have it, Satsuki also encounters Totoro, and the two sisters suddenly find their lives brimming with magical woodland adventures and an array of fantastical creatures.
