Description:

Due to his poor eyesight, Jirou Horikoshi cannot fulfill his dream of becoming a pilot. Instead, he leaves his hometown to attend Tokyo Imperial University to study aeronautical engineering. His sole aspiration is to follow in the footsteps of his hero, Giovanni Battista Caproni, and construct airplanes. In 1923, Jirou is present in Tokyo when the catastrophic Great Kanto Earthquake occurs. Despite the chaos, he courageously saves a maid who worked for Naoko Satomi's family. This tragedy serves as a prologue to a period of social unrest and despair that spans two decades and culminates in Japan's surrender during World War II. Jirou is met with numerous obstacles as he pursues his goal of designing the infamous Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter aircraft. Nevertheless, his experiences and journeys inspire him to press forward, even as he slowly acknowledges the impact his inventions have in the war and faces the harsh realities of his personal life. As time goes on, Jirou must confront an unanswerable question: What is the price he must pay to pursue his magnificent dream?
